BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 13. Passenger traffic at Adnan Menderes International Airport in Türkiye's Izmir city grew in May 2023, Trend reports.
According to the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Türkiye, this figure amounted to over 3.69 million people, up by 14 percent on an annual basis.
The airport's passenger traffic on domestic flights increased by 10 percent and amounted to 2.6 million people, while on international flights - by 26 percent to 1.08 million people in May this year.
The airport's cargo turnover increased by eight percent in the reporting month compared to May 2022 and totaled 25,795 tons. The cargo turnover on local flights amounted to 18,071 tons (a growth of seven percent year on year) and on international flights - 7,724 tons (an increase of 11 percent).
Meanwhile, according to the ministry, the total number of carried flights stood at 198,659, which is 31 percent more than in March last year. At the same time, the number of domestic and international flights grew by 30 percent and 32 percent, amounting to 51,142 and 147,517, respectively.
The overall passenger traffic of all Turkish airports was 73.37 million people, while cargo turnover – was 1.46 million tons in May 2023.
In 2022, the passenger traffic at all airports in Türkiye amounted to 181.9 million people, and the cargo turnover – was four million tons.
