BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 10. Azerbaijan places high importance on transitioning to green energy, Chairman of the Azerbaijan Democratic Student and Youth Organization, Asif Askerli emphasized at the International Youth Forum "Supporting Environmental Policy through Young Leaders" in Baku, Trend reports.

"Azerbaijan is not only exporting oil and gas but is also making efforts to develop green energy, a green economy, and a green philosophy," Askerli stated.

Environmental issues are a big deal all around the world, he said, and that's why delegates from all over the world have gathered in Baku to talk about them.

Askerli pointed out that Azerbaijan is putting pedal to the metal in its transition towards a green economy, making it a top dog on the national agenda. Civil society and young leaders from all corners of the globe are joining forces in the battle against climate change.

The forum, which runs until September 13, is a melting pot of 24 young leaders from 18 countries and over 60 Azerbaijani youth organization leaders, government representatives, experts, and other guests. It's a real gathering of minds and a meeting of the hearts. Panel discussions will bring together a bunch of movers and shakers, bigwigs from different corners of the globe, such as France, Finland, Denmark, Norway, Spain, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Türkiye, Moldova, Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, and Kazakhstan.

The forum addresses environmental issues, climate change, eco-volunteering, and opportunities for collaboration and networking in promoting the green economy and environmental engagement. Topics also include international support for COP29 and the dissemination of global information about Azerbaijan.

Meetings with officials and NGO coalitions will focus on calls to continue active efforts in these areas.

The forum, backed by the Youth Foundation of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijan Democratic Student and Youth Organization, and the National Council of Youth Organizations, will be going strong until September 13.
