Turkish Transport, Shipping and Communications Minister Binali Yildirim proposed Airbus to establish a co-production of aircrafts, Turkish Sabah newspaper reported on Thursday.
According to the newspaper, the proposal was voiced by the Minister during the signing ceremony of the contract on the purchase of new aircrafts between "Turkish Airlines" ("Türk Hava Yolları") and Airbus, which was held in Istanbul.
Yildirim said that Turkey is waiting for a response of Airbus regarding the co-production of aircrafts.
This week an agreement to purchase new aircrafts was signed between "Turkish Airlines" and Airbus in Turkey. The total contract value is $13.5 billion.
