Sumgayit Techno Park to commission seven more enterprises (UPDATE)

Seven enterprises will begin to operate in Azerbaijan’s Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park in 2018, Nazim Talibov, director general of the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park, told reporters in Baku May 25.

He added that the enterprises will begin to operate in the second half of the year.

"These are a plant producing nitrogen fertilizers (SOCAR Carbamide plant), as well as SOCAR Polymer’s two plants – a polyethylene plant and a polypropylene plant,” he said. “A polypropylene plant will produce 180,000 tons of polypropylene per year and a polyethylene plant -120,000 tons of polyethylene. This project, as well as SOCAR Carbamide plant, along with the domestic market, is also export-oriented."

Talibov stressed that a plant producing tobacco of Tabaterra company will be launched in the third quarter of 2018.

"The production capacity of this plant will be seven billion cigarettes per year,” he said. “Moreover, a silicon and calcium production plant, with full Swiss capital, will be commissioned in 2018. Various building chemicals and mixtures will be produced at this plant. A ferroalloy plant is expected to be commissioned in the third quarter.”

Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park is located on the 506 hectare-territory. The total industrial zone of the park is 450 hectares. The investments worth $2.8 billion were made in the park. Moreover, 7,900 people have been employed in the park and 17 residents have been registered.
