Kazakhstan’s manufacturers intends to start their own production of batteries for electric cars, Trend reports with reference to Kazakh media.
“The percentage of worldwide sale of cars on alternative technologies could amount to 89 percent in the future, and Kazakhstan looks to correspond to the global trends,” Vice-Minister of Industry and Infrastructural Development of Kazakhstan Amaniyaz Yerzhanov.
"Large-scale research on possibilities of using electric cars in Kazakhstan's climate and infrastructure conditions has been conducted. The work on decreasing the cost of the cars for the consumer is underway," he added.
He further stated that local manufacturers are ready to produce cars on batteries, but locally manufactured electric cars are 1.5 times more expensive than Tesla. Thus, local manufacturers are already working to start the batteries production, as all necessary raw materials are available in the country.
