The harvesting of first samples of sugar beets of German brand KWS, which is differentiated by its high sugar content started in Kazakhstan’s Pavlodar region, Trend reports with reference to the press office of the regional akimat (administractive center).

In the near future the samples will be sent to sugar plant in Russia’s Altai Krai for testing, the report said.

The cultivation of eight types of sugar beet has been performed by the local cooperative, which includes 10 major holdings of the region. The seeds of sugar beet were provided by Pavlodar Agricultural Experiment Station for free.

The cultivation has been performed for experimental purposes in order to start preparing raw materials base for sugar plant which is to be built in 2021. The new venture is to manufacture up to 100,000 tons of sugar a year and is to create over 200 new work places.

According to the information, there is an agreement with Cheremnov Sugar Plant in Altai Krai, which oversees conduction of all necessary tests. Thus, some 40 kg of each type of sugar beet will be sent to the plant for testing. The information on which regions are best suited for cultivation of the beet that meets all standards and has necessary sugar content will be known based on the test results.

Furthermore, the specialists say that the sugar content is more important for the sugar beet than its weight. This is why processing factories prefer to use sugar been the sugar content of which is between 18-24 percent.
