Volume of minerals extracted in Iran's Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province increases

The volume of minerals extracted from mines in the Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province (western Iran) increased by 14 percent in the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020, through March 20, 2021), compared to the preceding Iranian year (from March 21, 2019, through March 19, 2020), said Mehrdad Ghasemi, Deputy Chairman of Industry, Mine and Trade Organization of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province, Trend reports citing the organization.

Ghasemi noted that more than 5.6 million tons of minerals were extracted from 107 mines in the province last Iranian year.

The deputy added that the extracted minerals were mainly silicon, gypsum stone, heat-resistant soil, decorative stones, raw materials for cement and etc.

“In addition, the minerals that can be used in steel, iron, aluminum, and other fields were extracted over the last Iranian year,” he said.

Reportedly, Iran's net mining reserves in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province are about 796 million tons.

There are 63 inactive mines in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Provinces. About 1,500 people are employed in the province's mines.
