BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 21. Iran's imports from four Caspian littoral states (Russia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan) increased by 53 percent in value and 19 percent in volume, during the first 11 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through February 19, 2022), compared to the same period last Iranian year, the Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports citing the administration.
The spokesman said that Iran imported about 3.49 million tons of goods worth more than $1.57 billion from the Caspian littoral states for the reporting period.
Latifi added that Iran's imports from Russia for 11 months amounted to 3.26 million tons worth $1.45 billion. The imports increased by 52 percent in value and 19 percent in volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.
“Over 11 months, Iran imported 165,000 tons of goods from Kazakhstan worth about $56.3 million. The imports increased by 57 percent in value and 88 percent in volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year,” he noted.
According to the customs official, Iran's imports from Azerbaijan for the reporting period amounted to 20,300 tons worth $35.8 million, which is an increase of 66 percent in value, while a decrease of about 16 percent in volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.
Latifi also pointed out that Iran imported 40,600 tons of goods worth $30 million from Turkmenistan in 11 months, which is an increase of 64 percent in value and a decrease of 35 percent in volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.
Iran's trade turnover with four Caspian littoral states for the first 11 months of the current Iranian amounted to about 7 million tons worth more than $3 billion. The trade turnover increased by 39 percent in value and 23 percent in volume compared to the same period last Iranian year.
