Iran to negotiate agricultural ties with Caspian Sea countries

TEHRAN, Iran, October 8. Iran is seeking agricultural cooperation with Russia and other Caspian Sea countries, said the Minister of Agriculture Javad Sadatinejad, Trend reports citing Tasnim News Agency.

The minister has underlined Iran’s first Vice President has a suggestion for hosting a joint meeting on food security in Tehran between Caspian Sea countries adding that Iran is ready to draft a road map for cooperation.

Iran’s agricultural trade with Russia has increased by 80 percent, and based on the government’s plans the agricultural trade volume will increase to $6 billion in next year, he noted.

According to the official, the Iranian government is following sustainable food security and has reached agreements with the Caspian Sea countries for the export and import of grain and citrus fruit.
