BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 25. Iran’s imports through the customs of Golestan Province (north-eastern Iran) increased by 244 percent in value and 186 percent in volume during the first six months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2023), compared with the time period last year, Director General of Golestan Province Customs Office Shahriar Shahriari said, Trend reports.
According to Shahriari, 38,000 tons of goods worth approximately $80 million were imported through the customs of Iran’s Golestan Province in six months.
The director general added that the main imported goods via the province’s customs for the reporting period included soybean oil, various polymers, fabric, etc.
He also said that the mentioned goods were imported from 20 countries, including China, Türkiye, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, India, and others.
Overall, Iran imported 14.4 million tons of goods worth $24.2 billion within the first 5 months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2023). This is an increase of 7.49 percent in value and 2.17 percent in volume compared to the same period last year.
