Iran records decrease in domestic van production

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 3. Iran’s local van production increased by 3 percent in the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through November 21, 2023), compared to the same period last year, Trend reports.

According to data from Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade, Iran manufactured 2,291 vans over the course of eight months.

In the corresponding period previous Iranian year, the country’s van manufacturing stood at 2,224 units.

During the 8th month (October 23 through November 21, 2023), 26 vans were produced within the country, representing a 94.3-percent decrease from 463 units in the same month the previous year.

Meanwhile, Iran manufactured a total of 3,164 vans domestically over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), which is an increase of 267 percent compared to 862 vans in the preceding Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022).

Overall, 882,471 various vehicles (including passenger cars, pick-up trucks, buses and minibuses, vans, trucks, trailers, and so on) were produced in Iran in 8 months. This is an increase of 17.8 percent compared to the same period last year.

There are three giant car manufacturing companies - Iran Khodro, Saipa, and Pars Khodr - operating in Iran. By implementing various projects, Iran intends to increase manufacturing in the auto industry.
