MCD Deputy Director arrives in Baku

Julian Berengot, the Deputy Director of the IMF Department for Middle East and Central Asia (MCD), set up work in Baku on Tuesday. Baku Office of the IMF said that Berengot will stay in Baku till 16 Dec.

"He is in consultations with the governmental officials jointly with the head of the MCD review mission, Vitaliy Kramarenko. They held a meeting at the National Bank and by the end of the week they plan to meet with the state adviser on economic policy, Vahid Akhundov, the Finance Minister, Avaz Alakbarov, and the Minister for Economic Development, Heydar Babayev, the Prime Minister, Artur Rasizade. After the meeting with the Prime Minister the perspectives for the development of a new program on cooperation between the government and the Fund ,” the same source said.

The key task of the mission is to review the relevance of the country to obligations set by Article 4 of an agreement on establishment of the IMF.
