WB Leading Economist to Participate in Development of Project in Azerbaijan

Christina Peterson, the World Bank's leading economist on South Caucasus, will launch a visit to Baku on 30 January 2007. WB Baku Office informed Trend that the key objective of the visit is participate in the discussions on improvement of business climate in Azerbaijan, as well as talks on development of projects.

During the visit it is planned to carry out work on the development of the project on assistance to trade and railway transit.

Peterson will also hold discussions with the Government of Azerbaijan on general issues. The last visit to Baku was paid in December 2006 for the presentation of a new Partnership Strategy (2007-2010), confirmed at WB Board of Directors on 6 December.

The total value of the strategy is $1.26bln.
