Growth Rate of Foodstuffs in Azerbaijan in May to Decrease

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend I.Khalilova / The Azerbaijani Statistic Committee reported that the prices on foodstuffs and tariffs for services in May as compared to April of 2007 decreases 0.3% and 15.3% as compared to May, 2006.

In May The prices for foodstuffs decreased by 0.8%, for nonfoods by 0.5% and tariffs services increased by 0.2%.

The State Statistic Committee stated increase of prices for grain by 0.1%, fruits by 2.8%, mineral water, cooling drinks and juices by 0.4%, sugar and confectionery products by 0.1%, butter by 0.2%, beer by 1.4%, tea, coffee and cocoa by 0.4% and alcoholic drinks -1%.

For this period the prices for fish products fell by 0.3%, milk products, cheese and eggs - 2.5%, vegetables -5.4%, meat by 0.1% and butter and oils by 0.6%.

As compared to for January- May, 2006 the rate of growth of inflation made up 16, 2%. At the same time prices for foodstuffs increased at 16.5%, nonfoods by 9.9%, and tariff services by 23%.

The prices for foodstuffs for May, 2007 as compared to May 2006 increased by 14.5%, nonfoods

10.4% and services by 23.1%.
