SOCAR extracts over 3.5 mln tons of oil in January-June

In January-June SOCAR's oil and gas producing departments extracted about 26.3 million barrels of oil (more than 3.57 million tons) in offshore and onshore fields of the country compared to about 26.7 million barrels (more than 3.63 million tons) in January- June 2010, SOCAR said.

In 2010, oil and gas producing departments of SOCAR extracted about 53.36 million barrels (7.28 million tons) in offshore and onshore fields of the country compared to about 53.52 barrels (7.3 million tons) in 2009.

Over 6 million barrels fell to joint projects of SOCAR with foreign companies. Over 1.17 million barrels fell to operating companies. Over 4.46 million barrels fell to "Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli" and over 467,000 barrels fell to gas condensate from Shah Deniz field.

In the first half of 2011 SOCAR received over 3.63 billion cubic meters of gas, compared to about 3.87 billion cubic meters during the same period of last year. SOCAR's oil and gas departments extracted 3.4 billion cubic meters of gas. Joint ventures and operating companies which produce natural gas onshore delivered 106.3 million cubic meters of gas to SOCAR during this period.

SOCAR received about 7.6 billion cubic meters in 2010, compared to about 7.33 billion cubic meters during last year.

Azerbaijan International Operating Company (AIOC) extracted over 1.93 billion cubic meters of associated gas in the field "Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli" in January-June for SOCAR compared to 1.7 million cubic meters during the same period of last year.
There are 59 oil and gas fields, of which 18 offshore, the rest onshore in Azerbaijan.
