SOCAR's "Azerkimya" Production Association is completing the process of building a new nitrogen-oxygen unit in March 2013, Azerkimya head Mukhtar Babayev told media on Thursday.

Babayev said that using the old similar unit is not efficient in terms of energy consumption. Therefore, the decision was made to build a new one.

"At present, the new unit is being constructed and we plan to complete the construction operations by March 20, 2013," Babayev said.

He said that this is part of the program to save electricity, gas and water.

Great results will be achieved as a result of the work conducted in this direction till 2015. The operations will be continued to increase energy efficiency in 2013.

The work is underway to improve product quality and providing enterprises with raw materials.

All goods manufactured by the production association obtained European registration codes to enter the European market. Some 90 percent of goods are exported and the export area is gradually increasing.

The process of transporting chemical products through SOCAR oil terminal in Georgia has been launched. It will be implemented for the needs of the Turkish petrochemical complex Petkim, in which SOCAR has equity participation.
