Iran shares data on electricity exports to Afghanistan

Iran is currently exporting 110 megawatt-hours of electricity to Afghanistan per day, Adviser on International Affairs to the Iranian Energy Minister Mohammad Ali Farahnakian told IRNA, Trend reports.

The official noted that the capacity of Iran's 3-4 power transmission lines to Afghanistan is a total of 175 megawatt-hours.

“Iran has a number of big plans to increase the electricity transmission capacity. With the implementation of these plans, 500-600 megawatt-hours will be added to the capacity,” he added.

According to Farahnakian, about 1.5 months ago, Iran and Afghanistan signed a long-term contract on the export of electricity from Iran to Afghanistan.

In addition, a number of plans are to be implemented in the electricity sector. All this will serve the interests of both countries.
