By Klavdiya Romakayeva - Trend:

Georgia will invest about 34 million lari ($10.9 million) in construction of a modern ropeway in Hatsvali resort in Mestia, located in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti (Georgia), Trend reports citing Georgian media.

According to the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Natia Turnava, due to the efforts made by the government, the tourist infrastructure of Svaneti is actively developing.

"While we are fighting this invisible enemy, the pandemic, and it does not seem to be the end yet, we manage not only to close and restrict the economy with a balanced policy, but also to achieve unprecedented, double-digit economic growth in the region and the world. Of course, this is not 2019, when we hosted at least 150,000 foreign visitors and Svaneti was one of the number one regions in terms of hosting. Not to mention the thousands of Georgian guests, tourists, who still come to Svaneti,” Turnava said.

"On the instructions of the prime minister, we have developed a ten-year plan for the development of the country's economy, including the development of tourism, and in the near future we have very interesting projects for Svaneti," Turnava said.

As for the Tetnuldi complex, according to the minister, the construction of the Mulakhi-Tetnuldi ropeway will definitely be considered.

"We will complete the restoration of the damaged infrastructure very soon, and we have received an assignment on that, but at the same time we will definitely think about the implementation of the Mulakhi-Tetnuldi ropeway in the future. This is not a small project, it is quite large-scale, but we will implement it as well, we are studying the perspectives,” she said.
