By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

Starting from February 1, 2020, Georgia will increase the tariff for ensuring the safety of aircraft and passengers at Georgian airports, Trend reports citing Georgian media.

At the Tbilisi International airport the tariff will grow from 3.7 euros to 6.2 euros per passenger.

“Despite any economic, financial, or political processes, safety is the most important thing for any airline. Accordingly, we will pay this tariff," said Roman Bokeria, CEO of Georgian Airways.

According to the Association of Georgian Airports, increase of the tariff will allow for more effective measures to increase the level of safety of aircraft and passengers.

The tariff growth will be different for different airports; if the tariff doubles in Tbilisi International airport, in Batumi international airport it will increase by $1, from $4.5 to $5.5 per passenger.

At the Kutaisi international airport, the safety tariff will also increase by $1, from $3 to $4 per passenger.
