Turkey to assist Kyrgyzstan in strengthening Defence Ministry

Turkey will assist Kyrgyzstan in strengthening its Defence Ministry, Security Council and Border Guard Service, the news agency 24.kg quotes Foreign Minister Ruslan Kazakbaev as saying during the official visit of Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev to Turkey.

He said the issues of security, war on international terrorism, drug trafficking and illegal migration, strengthening of the Defence Ministry, Frontier Service and law enforcement bodies were discussed during the bilateral negotiations. "We asked to assist us in border safeguarding, formation of Security Council, strengthening of Defence Ministry, Border Guard Service and law-enforcement authorities," Ruslan Kazakbaev said.

The minister noted that the issue of a quota for increasing students, officers and young diplomats wishing to study in Turkey was also discussed. "The Turkish side is going to support our request," the Minister added.
