Kyrgyzstan's cargo transportation by air soars

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, October 9. Cargo transportation by air in Kyrgyzstan skyrocketed by 35 times from January through August 2023 compared to the same period of the previous year, Trend reports.

Data from the country's State Statistical Committee indicates that it reached a total of 7,000 tons during this period, which is a significant leap from the 200 kg transported in the same period of 2022.

Rail cargo transportation in Kyrgyzstan amounted to 5.759 million tons during the period under review, which is a 14-percent increase compared to the same period in 2022 (5.042 million tons).

Moreover, transportation of goods by motor transport also grew, with a 10.9 percent year-on-year increase, totaling 24.252 million tons. For comparison, 21.866 million tons were transported from January through August 2022.

The overall volume of cargo transported by all modes of transportation in Kyrgyzstan reached 30.224 million tons from January through August 2023, which is an increase of 3.1 million tons, or 11.5 percent, compared to the same period last year.

The cargo turnover in Kyrgyzstan amounted to 1.793 billion ton-kilometers from January through August 2023, which is 9.5 percent higher than in the same period of 2022.
