DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, August 30. Tajikistan's exports from January through July 2023 decreased by 43.6 percent compared to the same period in 2022, Trend reports.

According to the Statistical Agency of the country, Tajikistan exported goods and products totaling $767 million over the seven months of 2023.

The decline in exports is primarily attributed to reduced sales of precious and semi-precious metals and stones. The sales of this category of products dropped from $415 million in January–July 2022 to $649,000 in the current year.

Additionally, a significant impact on the exports’ decrease was the reduced sales of non-precious metals and products made from them (primary aluminum and its products) from $205 million in January–July 2022 to $172 million in the same months of 2023.

The exports of cotton fiber, considered one of the two main export goods of Tajikistan, also decreased from $133 million to $80 million. Exports of mineral products decreased by $138 million, and exports of plant-based products (fruits, vegetables, melons, etc.) decreased by $7 million.

Tajikistan's main export partners over the seven months of the current year were Kazakhstan (22.6 percent of the total volume of exports), China (20.9 percent), Turkey (12.4 percent), Russia (11.7 percent), and Uzbekistan (11.2 percent).
