Poland withdrawing diplomats from Syria
Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said Friday his country will close its embassy in Damascus, withdraw all its diplomats and stop representing U.S. interests in Syria, dpa reported.
Sikorski said the decision was made due to the impossibility of continuing diplomatic efforts in Syria that faces deteriorating security situation.
In accordance with related regulations, Polish Foreign Ministry has asked European Union member states' embassies that remain in Syria to provide necessary supports for Polish companies and citizens operating and living in the Middle East country.
Since January, Polish Foreign Ministry has for several times called on its citizens to withdraw from Syria, a country that has witnessed 17 months of violence and escalating conflicts between the government forces and rebels.
Brazil pulled out all its diplomats from Syria earlier this month.
