Turkmen-American Business Forum and the regular exhibition of American companies is scheduled to be held in Ashgabat on May 3-5, the official Turkmen source said on Saturday.
The participation of some 300 American businessmen, representing over 100 companies and organizations is expected.
President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov recently stressed "the special importance of international contacts, aimed at increasing investment and export potential, the growth of foreign trade and attraction of new technologies in the industry and investment."
At this stage business contacts have been established between the two countries, mainly in such areas as supply of highly productive agricultural machinery, upgrading of technical civil aviation fleet of Turkmenistan, import of power equipment.
With regard to joint projects in the gas industry, this stage of cooperation should be studied. U.S. is interested in such projects as the laying of gas pipelines from Turkmenistan to Europe via the Caspian Sea and in Pakistan and India via Afghanistan.
In addition, negotiations on the development of hydrocarbon fields in Turkmenistan, ranking fourth among the largest natural gas reserves in the world. Ashgabat invites U.S. companies to the development of the Turkmen Caspian shelf.
Chevron, ExxonMobil, Conoco Phillips, Honeywell and others are among the interested companies.
