Rouhani leaves for New York to attend UN General Assembly session

Iranian president, Hassan Rouhani left Tehran for New York on Sept. 24 to attend the 70th United Nations General Assembly which will kick off on September 25.

Rouhani will hold meetings with heads of states and officials of other countries during his five-day stay, Iran's official IRIB news agency reported.

He will also deliver a speech at the UN meeting. The Iranian president is scheduled to meet Iranians living in the US and have interviews with different TV networks.

This is the third visit of Rouhani to New York since he became Iran's president in August 2013. Prior to his departure to New York, the Iranian president said that Iran will implement the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in the best way.

He further said that the nuclear deal was a big achievement not only for Iranian people also for global peace.

Rouhani also added that all nations around the world as well as in the Middle East region will benefit from the nuclear deal results.

After several months of talks, on July 14, Iran and the P5+1 (US, Russia, China, France, UK, and Germany) announced a final accord dubbed JCPOA, curbing Iran 's nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of most international sanctions against Tehran.
