Ain Shams University rector invited to visit Azerbaijan (PHOTO)

Azerbaijani MP Ganira Pashayeva met with a number of influential political and public figures during the International Forum on Combating Human Trafficking in Luxor. Pashayeva met with Professor Magid Eldib, the rector of the Ain Shams University, Cairo, one of the most prestigious educational institutions of Egypt and the Arab world.

Azerbaijani MP Ganira Pashayeva met with a number of influential political and public figures during the International Forum on Combating Human Trafficking in Luxor. Pashayeva met with Professor Magid Eldib, the rector of the Ain Shams University, Cairo, one of the most prestigious educational institutions of Egypt and the Arab world.

The sides discussed the Azerbaijan-Egyptian relations in education. Eldib said the Azerbaijani youth study in Egyptian universities through the state line. He said the Ain Shams University pays a great attention to Azerbaijani language.

Eldib noted the importance of enhancing cooperation between the Ain Shams University and Azerbaijani educational institutions, as well as accelerate further research in this direction.

Pashayeva appreciated this initiative and expressed her gratitude to Eldib for the opening of the Azerbaijani Language Department at the Turkic Language and Literature Faculty of the Ain Shams University. The Azerbaijani language is taught to students of the third and fourth year.

She noted that Azerbaijani language teacher Ahmed Sami Elaydi lived some time in Azerbaijan and knows the Azerbaijani language very well. Pashayeva said growing number of students learning the Azerbaijani language have a positive impact on the development of friendly relations between the two countries.

The sides also raised the issue of Armenian occupation of 20 percent of Azerbaijani territory, about million Azerbaijanis expelled from their homes and the Khojali genocide. Pashayeva informed the Cairo University rector about the current situation around the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Armenia's non-compliance with the resolutions of international organizations and escalation of tensions in the region by Yerevan.

Following the meeting, Eldib was presented a commemorative gift, books and documentary films that reflect the realities and culture of Azerbaijan.

Pashayeva invited Eldib to visit Azerbaijan and he accepted the invitation with pleasure.   

During her visit to Cairo, Pashayeva met with a group of Azerbaijani students in Egypt. Pashayeva asked about their problems. She noted the importance of expanding activity in the direction of promoting a culture of Azerbaijan, spread of truth about Azerbaijan in the world and suppression of false interpretation of the history by the Armenian side.
