Uzbek Foreign Minister Vladimir Norov held talks with his Ukrainian counterpart Peter Poroshenko Feb.24, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reported.

The parties discussed possible measures to strengthen bilateral political dialogue, in particular, Uzbek President Islam Karimov's possible visit to Kiev and Ukraine's Foreign Minister Tashkent visit in 2010.

The ministers reviewed the issues of the next round of political consultations at the level of deputy foreign ministers and the joint intergovernmental commission's 8th meeting.

The sides also discussed cooperation in the trade and economic sphere, including the diversification of foreign trade, and agreed to continue intensive contacts between the two foreign ministries.

Uzbekistan's foreign minister is on a visit to Kiev in order to participate in the festivities marking the inauguration of Ukraine's newly elected President Viktor Yanukovich.
