Kazakhstan plans to abolish visa requirements with 34 most developed countries, Kazakh Minister of Industry and New Technologies Aset Isekeshev said at a government meeting on Thursday, Kazinform reported.

"We know that the Kazakh Foreign Ministry implements a project on abolishment of visa regime with the 34 most developed countries. We believe that we must accelerate the work in this direction, " Isekeshev said.

According to Isekeshev, such measures will be taken to promote tourism development in Kazakhstan.

The tourism sector is steadily developing in Kazakhstan, Isekeshev said.

In 2011 the number of inbound tourists hit 5.6 million and the number of domestic tourists - over 5.3 million people. The volume of services rendered in tourism industry amounted to 74 billion tenge (over $500 million).

Moreover, according to Isekeshev, the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies develops a program on development of tourism industry by 2020. The program development should be completed by November.
