PACE Delegation Arrives in Azerbaijan to Observe Presidential Elections

Azerbaijan, Baku, 12 October / Trend / A 26-member delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of

Europe (PACE) headed by co-rapporteur of the Organizationїs Monitoring Committee on Azerbaijan Andres Herkel arrived in Baku on October 12 to monitor the forthcoming presidential election.

During the visit, the delegation members will meet with presidential candidates and media representatives.

The delegation also includes expert from the Venice Commission of Council of Europe.

The presidential elections in Azerbaijan will be held on 15 October. Seven candidates will take part in the elections, including Ilham Aliyev, chairman of ruling New Azerbaijan Party; Igbal Agazade, chairman of opposition Umid (Hope) Party; Fazil Gazanfaroglu, chairman of Great Establishment Party; Gudrat Hasanguliyev, chairman of Unified Popular Front Party; Hafiz Hajiyev, chairman of Muasir Musavat Party; Fuad Aliyev, chairman of Liberal Democrat Party and independent candidate Gulamhuseyn Alibayli.
