UNICEF teaches Turkmen teachers under Convention on children's rights

UN Children's Fund - UNICEF, with the assistance of the Turkmen Ministry of Education held a workshop in Ashgabat at the pedagogical institute on schools conception, friendly to children and their importance in implementing the Convention on the Children's Rights, the organization released.

The workshop focused on interactive teaching methods in schools, which take into account the active learning and participation of children themselves. The methodology includes five major components: inclusive (involving all the children), gender sensitivity (the equality of girls and boys), the effectiveness of training; safety and health of children, the care and protection and the involvement of parents, families and communities in the education of children and monitor their progress.

"UNICEF and the Ministry of Education conducted the first workshop on the concept of schools, friendly .. We hope that UNICEF will continue to collaborate with partners to educate future teachers," Acting UNICEF Representative to Turkmenistan Abdul Alim said.

The workshop participants were invited to think about expanding the initiative throughout the country, schools, friendly to children, and the introduction of learning based on life skills in school curricula.
