OSCE assists Turkmenistan in strengthening aviation security

Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, 7 September / Trend G.Hasanov / The employees of the National Air Service Turkmenhovaellari (Turkmen air ways) and traffic police took part in the seminar "Security of checkpoints and interpretation of X-ray images", which ended in Ashgabat.

Organized by the OSCE Center in Ashgabat in cooperation with the Foreign Ministry and National Air Service, the training included two five-day training, the first of which was devoted to the interpretation of X-ray imaging and security, and the second - the training of trainers to conduct such trainings, as well as the adaptation of training materials for the use in local conditions.

"The training was designed to comply with the guidelines of the organization recognized at the international level. The training provides knowledge and skills necessary for trainers to design and conduct high-level trainings for personnel responsible for aviation safety, with the latest information equipment and materials," said Stuart Hanson, a trainer from the UK.

The main points of the training were the advanced practice in the identification of drugs, small arms and light weapons and other items prohibited for export, as well as training methods, including audio-visual presentations, practical exercises, teaching aids and computer-based training. As a continuation of this training, will be organized a familiarization visit to one of the OSCE member-states.
