Belarus is ready to provide extensive support to Azerbaijan's initiatives and ideas in the international arena, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said in his congratulatory message to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on the occasion of Azerbaijan's election to the UN Security Council, BelTA reported.
"This honorable victory gained by a young and truly independent state in a tough political fight cannot but arouse deep admiration," the message reads.
Lukashenko said this victory is underpinned by the international recognition of significant progress Azerbaijan made to strengthen its statehood, maintain high socioeconomic development pace and pursue a constructive and principled foreign policy.
"I have no doubts that the proactive stance of your state in this key UN structure will contribute to the consolidation of effort of the international community to fight new challenges and threats and build a fair world order based on the supremacy of international law and efficient multilateral cooperation," he added.
Lukashenko emphasized that Belarus shares this great achievement of its reliable and time-tested strategic partner, and is ready to keep providing comprehensive support to the initiatives of Azerbaijan in the international arena.
