Azerbaijan is a country that became the most significant player in the region's political and economic arena in recent years, and is attracting the attention of various powers more and more.

The investments in the neighboring countries, the important political events held in the country, and the cultural developments, made Azerbaijan so recognizable that today its name is used as an argument by some opposing parties.

In the past two days, the European media outlets have made two unrelated reports, which used Azerbaijan's name as an argument.

The first report is related to the Council of Europe (CoE) Secretary General Thorbjorn Jagland, who brought Azerbaijan as the argument while responding to a statement of the UK Secretary of State for Justice Chris Grayling on the UK's intention to withdraw from the European Court of Human Rights.

Today, Azerbaijan has become such a serious political player in Europe and the world, that the CoE uses Azerbaijan to persuade the UK not to leave the European Court. Well, thank you sirs for the recognition!

Apparently, it will be particularly difficult for European politicians after 2019, as such unacceptance with regard to Azerbaijan, may cause them to wonder whose gas was used to cook their food. Or not...

The second report was spread by Greek media outlets, according to which, Azerbaijan will conduct the exploration of hydrocarbons in the Mediterranean Sea in accordance with the agreement with Turkey.

Taking into account the experience of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) in conducting exploration work on the Israeli shelf by using a floating drilling rig, naturally we can't rule out this possibility. However, SOCAR has no agreement with Turkey on the exploration of hydrocarbons in the sea.

Azerbaijan, for centuries, has been known in the world as an oil and gas producing country. The country's reputation is growing in this sphere as a result of implementing one of the largest oil and gas projects in the sphere of production and transportation of hydrocarbons in the late 20th and early 21st centuries.

Therefore, it is not surprising that Greek media decided to draw Azerbaijan into the political problems between Greece and Turkey. Azerbaijan's reputation in the oil and gas field, the largest oil and gas projects of SOCAR in Turkey were expected to add some "value" to this information.

By the way, namely Greece intends to be among the first European countries to purchase Azerbaijani gas. At the same time, SOCAR intends to make investments in Greece's gas distribution network which has serious problems.

Naturally, these are only two examples of what has happened in recent days. It has happened before. However, Azerbaijan's development, its increasing role on the international arena will increase the agiotage surrounding the country. As the saying goes, this is the price of fame.

Stability has today turned into one of the underlying factors of development in the world, and this doesn't give a moment's peace to many...
