Today, a two-day Conference Assistance to Regional Dialogue in EU Neighbourhood Policy has opened in the hotel Tbilisi-Marriott.

The arrangement is the first step of a new project of Eurasia Foundation Introducing Civil Sector to Integration Process. The project is financed by the International Development Department of the British Government and the United States International Development Agency, Trend Correspondent to Tbilisi reports.

According to Claude Zulo, Regional Programs Director of Eurasia Foundation, participants of the conference will discuss possible directions of regional cooperation in the countries of South Caucasus within the EU Neighbourhood Policy.

The main aim of the event is to search for new ways to launch a dialogue between the governmental and non-governmental sector within the EU Neighbourhood Policy, as well as to agree on those three main topics that are common and urgent to three countries of South Caucasus. The work on the above-mentioned issues should be carried out just within the EU Neighbourhood Policy action plan. Another aim of the conference is to create atmosphere for the people to get acquainted with the core of the EU Neighbourhood Policy. Within Eurasia Foundation's project, other three regional forums are expected to be held soon, said Mr. Claude Zulo. Today's conference was opened by Valery Chechelashvilli, first Deputy for Georgia's Foreign Minister, Donald McLaren, UK Ambassador to Georgia, and John Tefft, US Ambassador to Tbilisi.

Representatives of the Government of Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Armenia, as well as representatives of the civil society, international organizations, and foreign diplomatic offices that are accredited in Georgia, have participated at the arrangement.
