Volume of construction work in Uzbekistan increases

Volume of construction work in Uzbekistan made up 8.9 trillion soum ($935.7 million), and the growth rate reached 8.1 percent from January through February 2020, compared to the same period of 2019 Trend reports citing Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.
Number of enterprises and organizations in the construction sector amounted to 37,200 and, compared to the same period of 2019, increased by 20.6 percent. The main factor behind the growth in the number of construction enterprises and organizations was the increase in specialized work by 20.7 percent (60.8 percent of the total), in construction of civil facilities by 11.8 percent (8.5 percent of the total) and in the construction of buildings and structures by 23 percent (30.7 percent of the total).
The volume of construction work carried out by large construction organizations amounted to 1.1 trillion soum ($115.6 million) from January through February 2020. In comparison with 2019, construction work increased by 13.1 percent and its share in the total volume increased by 0.6 percent and made up 12.6 percent.
In January through bruary 2020, the volume of construction work carried out by small enterprises and micro-firms increased significantly, and their share made up 67.5 percent of the total volume, which is 0.5 percent more if compared to the same period of 2019.
Thus, the volume of construction work carried out by them made up 6.1 trillion soum ($641.3 million) and the growth rate reached 8.8 percent compared to the period of January through February of 2019.
Construction work carried out by state organizations in the whole country made up 213.3 billion soum ($22.4 million), the growth rate reached 100 percent against January through February of 2019.
The volume of construction work carried out by the non-governmental organizations made up 8.5 trillion soum ($893.6 million), the growth rate reached 8.5 percent, and their share made up 4.8 percent and 95.2 percent respectively.
