Average rate on bank lending declines in Azerbaijan in July

As of August 1, the average rate on bank lending to the economy of Azerbaijan in national currency amounted to 15.34 percent compared to 17.12 percent as of July 1, 17.45 percent as of January 1 and 18.21 percent as of August 1, 2008, the Central Bank of the country said on September 11.

Average interest rate on bank lending in hard currency was 16.39 percent compared to 17.59 percent as of July 1, 14.52 percent as of January 1 and 14.1 percent as of August 1, 2008.

In early August, the average rate on bank lending to legal entities in national currency amounted to 12.74 percent compared to 14.80 percent as of July 1, 14.87 percent as of January 1 and 15.95 percent as of August 1, 2008. The average rate on bank credits to corporate clients in hard currency was 13.79 percent compared to 15.01 percent as of July 1, 12.37 percent as of January 1 and 11.71 percent as of August 1, 2008.

During the reported period, the average rate on bank lending to individuals in local currency amounted to 20.83 percent compared to 21.19 percent as of July 1, 21.53 percent as of January 1 and 21.38 percent as of August 1, 2008. Average interest rate on bank credit to the individual client in hard currency was 22.19 percent compared to 22.67 percent, 21.52 percent and 21.38 percent respectively.
