Georgian commercial banks near 4 billion lari in deposits

Deposits on the Georgian banking market increased by 0.3 percent or 10.9 million lari from May 1 to June 1, reaching 3.7 billion lari.

The annual average weighted interest rate on all deposits was 7.9 percent in May. The interest rate on national currency denominated deposits reached 10.0 percent. The interest rate on foreign currency denominated deposits hit 7.5 percent.

The U.S. dollar's share in the total volume of foreign currency denominated deposits reached 77.4 percent, while the euro's share rose to 21.2 percent.
