The Kazakhstan-Switzerland joint venture for production and enrichment of tantalum will be created in the Congo and Rwanda, the head of JSC 'NAC 'Kazatomprom'' Vladimir Shkolnik told journalists behind the scenes of the first meeting of the Kazakhstan-Switzerland Business Council.
"Switzerland is interested in creating such a joint venture because we are the largest processor of this raw feedstock, and we have the unique technology for processing of the product with high added value," Vladimir Shkolnik said.
JSC 'Ulbinsk Metallurgical Plant has produced tantalum from imported raw feedstock. On Wednesday, representatives of the plant discussed the establishment of the tantalum enrichment industry in the Congo and Rwanda together with the Swiss company which owns the African mines.
