Cargo transportation through TRACECA’s Azerbaijani segment up

In January-September 2017, 38.92 million tons of cargo were transported through Azerbaijan’s territory via TRACECA (Transport Corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia) or by 4.7 percent more than in the same period of 2016, said a report issued by Azerbaijan’s State Statistics Committee.

Some 61.7 percent of the total volume of transported cargo accounted for vehicles, 24.7 percent - railway and 13.6 percent – ships, said the report.

According to the report, 19 percent of transported cargo accounted for transit cargo.

TRACECA is an international cooperation program in the field of transport between the EU and partner countries in Eastern Europe, South Caucasus and Central Asia. The organization has a permanent secretariat in Baku.

TRACECA member states are Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Moldova, Romania, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Iran.
