Dollarization of deposits down in Kazakhstan

Dollarization of deposits in Kazakhstan in January 2019 decreased from 48.4 to 44.4 percent, the Association of Financiers of Kazakhstan (AFK) informed, Trend reports via Kazakh media.

The beginning of the year was marked by a slight 0.1-percent decrease in the assets of the banking system.

At the same time, the structure of assets showed a decline of 4.6 percent in the loan portfolio. Also, there is a growth of the securities portfolio by 6.2 percent, AFK analysts noted.

The net profit of the banking sector in January 2019 was almost twice as high as in January 2018. Amid the growth of the securities portfolio, the share of liquid assets reached 42.4 percent.

At the same time, in January the loan portfolio of second-tier banks decreased by 629.8 billion tenge or 4.6 percent, and there was a decline of 426.9 billion tenge in foreign currency loans, according to AFC.
