Iran's national digital currency is only practical to prepare people for understanding international digital currencies; however, it depends whether the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) lifts the ban on digital currencies, said secretary of Iran's Association for Online Commerce (AOC).
"The Central Bank of Iran ban on using digital currencies in business has not changed yet. The latest information indicates national digital currency has not been used in business due to restrict regulations," said Reza Olfat, Trend reports citing ILNA.
"A specific legal source should be responsible for issuing license for national digital currency to earn trust from people," he noted.
According to him, national digital currency should be accepted in monetary organizations like CBI, Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, and Iran Mercantile Exchange, so that people can trade it. "Meanwhile, even if all these factors are provided, using national digital currency will only be limited to Iran and, thus, will not be practical," he said.
"The only use of national digital currency is to introduce the process of using international digital currencies in business to people," he added.
