Asia Auto car-assembly plant of Kazakhstan is interested in developing cars using alternative technologies, the company told Trend.

“Asia Auto already has an experience in manufacturing electric cars and cars on compressed natural gas,” the company said.

Previously, the company presented an electric version of Lada Vesta sedan at the Expo 2017 international exhibition in Nur-Sultan.

“However, strong demand is necessary to relaunch the manufacturing of this type. Currently, the demand is being constrained by undeveloped infrastructure of electric vehicle charging stations and gas filling stations,” the company added.

By the beginning of the previous year, the total number of filling stations, gas filling stations and CNG (compressed natural gas) filling stations in Kazakhstan amounted to 5,296 units, which is 4.8 percent more than in the same period of 2017.

The number of filling stations stood at 3,805 units, gas filling stations amounted to 1,480 and CNG filling stations reached 11 units.

Asia Auto JSC was set up and passed its first state registration on December 20, 2002. The company is an operating manufacturer of passenger cars of Kazakhstan. Currently, the company cooperates with Volkswagen Group, General Motors and KIA Motors.
