Over 70% of loans in Georgia account for Tbilisi

Some 73.6 percent of loans issued by Georgian commercial banks accounted for Tbilisi as of July 1, 2019, and only 25.4 percent accounted for the rest of the country, Trend reports with reference to bizzone.info.

The total volume of loans in national and foreign currencies in the reporting period amounted to 28.8 billion lari, of which 21.2 percent accounted for the capital of Georgia.

At the same time, 62.8 percent of the total volume of loans in lari accounted for Tbilisi, in dollars - 82 percent. During the reporting period, loans in national currency in the amount of 12.5 billion lari were issued in Georgia, of which 7.8 billion accounted for Tbilisi.

The second place in terms of lending is held by the Imereti region - 1 billion lari, this is 8 percent of the total volume, the third place is held by Adjara - 900 million (7.1 percent).

As of July 1, banks issued loans in foreign currency in the amount of 16.3 billion lari, of which 13.3 billion (82 percent) accounted for Tbilisi. In this segment, Ajaria is on the second place with 1.5 billion lari, followed by Imereti (483 million lari).
