Turkey’s revenues from tourism amounted to $7.9 billion during the second quarter of 2019, showing an increase of 13.2 percent when compared to the same period of 2018, Trend reports referring to Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).
According to TUIK, 87.8 percent of the total income received by the tourism sector in the second quarter accounted for foreign tourists. "Some 12.2 percent were provided by Turkish citizens living abroad," the report said.
Every foreign tourist on average spent $625 in the country during the reporting period, and every Turkish citizen living abroad and visiting the country spent $766.
Turkey was visited by 12.7 million tourists during the second quarter of 2019, which is 15.3 percent more than the same period in 2018.
