Uzbekistan plans to establish its first tobacco cluster in Urgut District of Samarkand region, Trend reports with reference to Uzbek Cabinet of Ministers.
The creation of the cluster follows from the draft decree of the Cabinet of Ministers.
Under decree, it is planned to create a tobacco cluster on the basis of Urgut branch of JV British American Tobacco Uzbekistan with participation of other farms. By 2025, it is planned to increase the production of tobacco raw materials to 1,400 tons and its export to $5.6 million.
The cluster aims to include the purchase of raw materials, storage, processing, production of finished products, their sale in domestic and foreign markets through modern innovative technologies.
It is planned to allocate agricultural land for tobacco production on the basis of a contract in the amount of up to 50 percent of the total area of agricultural land.
