BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 17. The Iranian Ministry of Agriculture Jihad has announced the maximum prices for imported animal feed, Trend reports citing the ministry.

According to the report, the price of 1 kg of corn and barley imported into the country as animal feed is 113,000 rials (about $2.69), while the price of 1 kg of compressed soybeans is 163,000 rials (about $3.88).

A number of issues have been taken into account in determining the prices for imports of the mentioned products.

Thus, the decision to import some products to Iran under the official exchange rate ($1 - 42,000 rials) was changed, and some products were removed from this list.

In addition, the importance of timely provision of animal feed in the country was stressed, as well as it was noted that these products have become more expensive on world markets.

On May 12, 2022, Iranian Union of Importers of Poultry & Livestock set the price of for import of 1 kg of corn and barley feed at 120,000 rials (about $2.85), while 1 kg of compressed soybeans at 170,000 rials (about 4.04 kg) citing the fact that animal feed is imported under the NIMA exchange rate.

Earlier, the price for sale of 1 kg of corn feed in Iran was 19,000 rials (about $0.45) and 1 kg of compressed soybeans was 35,000 rials (about $0.83).

The recent rise in food prices and food shortages in Iran have resulted in protests in a number of provinces.
