Turkish energy minister arrives in Turkmenistan

Turkey's Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz arrived in Ashgabat on Tuesday in order to attend the inauguration of Dovletabad-Sarakhs-Khangiran natural gas pipeline between Turkmenistan and Iran, Anadolu reported.

Turkey's Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz arrived in Ashgabat on Tuesday in order to attend the inauguration of Dovletabad-Sarakhs-Khangiran natural gas pipeline between Turkmenistan and Iran, Anadolu reported.

Upon his arrival in the Turkmen capital, Yildiz held talks with Yagshigeldy Kakayev, Director of Turkmen State Agency for Management and Use of Hydrocarbon Resources.

During the gathering, Yildiz said that he came to Turkmenistan in order to share this country's successes.

Kakayev said in his part that Turkmenistan had remarkable achievements in energy sector in 2009 such as the operation of a pipeline between Turkmenistan and China, as well as development of alternative energy routes.

"As alternative routes increase, Turkmen gas will reach Turkey," Kakayev said.

As part of his visit to Turkmenistan, Yildiz will be received by Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in Ashgabat.

He is expected to participate in the inauguration of Dovletabad-Sarakhs-Khangiran natural gas pipeline on Wednesday.

Minister Yildiz will return to Turkey after participating in the inauguration ceremony.
