SOCAR Turkey plans to increase import sources for Star refinery

SOCAR Turkey plans to increase import sources for Star refinery, Zaur Gahramanov, CEO of SOCAR Turkey told Trend.

“In addition to Russia and Iraq, we started to import from more sources as of the end of 2019. We plan to add more import sources,” he said.

He pointed out that SOCAR Turkey uses the most modern technologies in the world at Star refinery, which was built with $6.3 billion worth investment.

“While continuing our operations, we do modeling studies and process the products with the best prices and quality according to the market conditions. Naturally, the countries, wherefrom we purchase the products and the quantities of products also change,” added Gahramanov.

The opening ceremony of the Star oil refinery took place on October 19, 2018 in Izmir, Turkey.

The total refining capacity of the refinery is 10 million tons. The refinery will significantly reduce the dependence of Turkey on imports of petrochemical products.
