Iran's gasoline consumption expected to increase

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb.23

Trend:

The gasoline consumption would increase in the new Iranian year (starts March 21,2021) after the quarantine measures across country are softened, said the CEO of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC) Alireza Sadegh Abadi, Trend reports citing ILNA.

"It would not be possible to import gasoline in 2021 and 2022 but the gasoline consumption is highly related to quarantine, so we should see how much the current volume would increase after quarantine," said Abadi.

"With regards to the possible increase of gasoline rationing, the government is making the decisions and the NIORDC is only responsible for the distribution of gasoline quota," he said referring to possible increase of gasoline rationing.

"Iran's CNG is the cheapest fuel and should have more share in fuel consumption basket and it is possible to increase it up to 40 million cubic meters," said Abadi.

"Iran's refineries have reached the highest refining capacity in the last Iranian year (started March 21,2019) to 2.3 million barrels," he said.
