Azerbaijan significantly increases purchases of gasoil from Turkmenistan

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, April 22. Azerbaijan imported a total of more than 2,800 tons of gasoil from Turkmenistan from January through February this year, Trend reports.

According to the data of the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan, during the specified period, the volume of gasoil purchases from Turkmenistan was more than 12 times higher than in the first two months of 2023 and amounted to 225 tons.

In value terms, Azerbaijan's purchase of gasoil from Turkmenistan from January through February of this year amounted to almost $2 million, which is 14 times more than in the same period of 2023, when it amounted to almost $135,000.

Turkmenistan was the only source of gasoil that Azerbaijan imported during the designated time.

Meanwhile, last year, Azerbaijan imported about 28,600 tons of gas oil from Turkmenistan for about $16.5 million.

The trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan in the first two months of 2024 amounted to $73.9 million, which is 29.6 percent less than in the same period of 2023, when it amounted to $105.1 million.
